Worship and Music

  Worship

We use the 1979 Book of Common Prayer for all occasions, with the more traditional Rite One option during the 8am services without music or singing, and the more contemporary Rite Two option for the 10am services which includes music. In both cases there are readings from the Old Testament, Psalms, New Testament and from the Gospel, followed by a Sermon. This half of the service, The Word, is how we study and incorporate the wisdom and teachings of God and the Bible into our daily lives and actions.  The second half, The Thanksgiving, is how we give thanks for the Gift of Jesus and the saving Grace of His Resurrection - that our sins are forgiven and that we have renewed our desire to do good and be gracious and uplifting to others. All baptized Christians are invited to share in bread and the wine, and we welcome those who only wish a blessing to join us at the altar rail - or even to receive a special prayer of healing when personal help is desired at the time of Unction, immediately after the bread and wine.

Music

Though our main source is the 1982 Hymnal for songs and chants, we often make use of "Wonder, Love and Praise", "With One Voice" and a few other inspirational sources. Most of the music is provided with the organ, but we do a lot with piano and sometimes we sing acappella.  Flute, violin and other instruments have been included when events and volunteers allow. It is not unusual for the choir to incorporate music and/or words from another area of the world, recently having sung French, German, Spanish, Japanese and even a Chippewa style tune. What a great way to celebrate our diversity while coming together as one in Christ!

Please note that the choir will be "on vacation" over the summer, starting on June 14th until the beginning of September.  But we'll still be singing from the pews along with the rest of the congregation - - come on folks ! This is your chance to shine !
