Outreach Ministries We may be considered a small parish, but we have a big heart and like to share what we have. We're an active member of the community of caring people - won't you join us ? Bread of Life - Working jointly with other area churches to feed our local families and friends in need of food and fellowship. Free sit-down meals are provided monthly at Emmanuel, with additional meals at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. (Independent of many other similarly named organizations one can find on the web.) Blood Drive - Quarterly opportunities throughout the year for people in the community to give blood through the Miller-Keystone Group based in Bethlehem, PA. C.R.O.P. Walk - "Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty" - Neighbors of different faiths, cultures, and ages walking together to raise awareness and funds for international relief and development, as well as local hunger-fighting agencies. Some 2,000 communities across the country take part each year. www.cropwalk.org HUBBUB - "Helping Upper Bucks Be Universally Better" is a group of area agencies and ministries working together to generate the most effective efforts possible for coordinated interests and goals. Emmanuel hosts their monthly meetings. Quakertown Food Pantry - Area-wide effort to make free food available to our locally unemployed and working poor . Lost Boys of Sudan - A long term commitment to help raise four young men who along with their families were horrifically displaced by civil war in Sudan. Three have become US citizens, one is entering law school with a desire to return to Sudan, and all are courageous and accomplished young men. Salvation Army - Donated office space is staffed and gives advice, assistance and referrals to those in need. Shared Outreach Ministries - Area churches coordinate activities to help the community at special times, such as Christmas time with "The Mitten Tree" to provide gifts for complete families. Souper Bowl - An annual event (You guessed it! On SuperBowl Sunday) to remind people and raise funds to combat hunger. Learn how to make the legendary Stone Soup. Camp - An Episcopal Church sponsored summer camp experience for children and youth. Auction - An annual fundraiser event for the church, a portion of which is devoted to outreach. Vacation Bible School - A week-long activity for children to learn more about God. Some of the work and resources are shared with other Quakertown churches so that everyone benefits . . . . and it's fun! United Thank Offering - An annual fundraiser to provide grant money for Anglican outreach. www.ecusa.anglican.org/uto.htm Additionally, Emmanuel Church makes space available for free or at reduced rates for non-profit community groups, outreach projects and health screening services.
